Privacy Policy.

Vorticel is a private AI research assistant for law firms — ask questions across your own documents and get answers grounded in your files, with citations to the exact source passage.

What we collect

We collect the account information you provide at signup (firm name, your name, email), the documents your firm uploads, the questions your firm asks, and basic usage data (sign-ins, document activity, and account changes) needed to operate and secure the service.

How your documents are handled

Documents are encrypted at rest (libsodium, per firm) and are only ever accessible within your firm's own account boundary — see our Security & Confidentiality page for the full, plain-English explanation of how tenant isolation and encryption work.

No training on your data

We do not use your firm's documents, questions, or answers to train any AI model — not Vorticel's own models, and not any third-party model's. To make your documents searchable, the extracted text of each document is sent to Voyage AI (a MongoDB company) to be converted into embeddings at the time it's ingested. When Vorticel answers a question, only the minimal set of retrieved passages relevant to that question is sent to Anthropic, as ordinary message text. Your original files themselves are never sent to or stored by any model provider — only extracted text is transmitted, and only as much as each step requires. Who can see your data

Only members of your firm's account can access your firm's documents and questions. Platform staff do not have standing access to any firm's documents; any support access is individually logged and requires fresh re-verification. There is no impersonation feature in Vorticel.

Third parties

We use a small number of infrastructure and service providers to operate Vorticel — including hosting, database, and AI model providers — each bound by contractual confidentiality obligations. We do not sell your firm's data, and we do not share your documents with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data retention and deletion

Your documents remain in your account until you delete them or close your firm's account. You can export your original documents at any time. When your firm closes its account, we delete your firm's documents and associated data from active systems within a reasonable period.

Your choices

You can delete individual documents, export your documents, or close your firm's account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us directly.
